Census: Miami Area Net Population Growth Is Now 5,400 People Per Month
In the past year, the Miami metropolitan area increased by 64,670 people , according to newly released census data.
That means that the local population is increasing by 5,400 people every month. The data runs from July 1, 2015 to July 1, 2016.
The net increase is split almost evenly between Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.
BLS data is more up to date, and shows an even faster gain. Those numbers, which runs through January 2017, shows that Miami’s Labor force has grown by 77,931 in 12 months.
Between 2010 and 2016, Miami has added 500,089 people – an increase of 9 percent in just six years. That is one of the fastest growth rates nationwide, and means Miami has likely already topped Philadelphia to become the seventh biggest metro area in the U.S.
