Key Biscayne Miami Florida

KEY BISCAYNE, MIAMI

Key Biscayne is a small but intimate barrier island located enough away from Miami, Florida, edged with Atlantic Ocean and Biscayne Bay. In 1991 it became a self-governed village and remains until nowadays. The Rickenbacker Causeway constructed in1940s is the only way leading to the village through scenic countryside of Hobie Island Beach Park, Virginia Key and Crandon Park.

Key Biscayne is surrounded by tranquil waters and white sandy beaches. This slice of paradise is quieter than other popular South Florida destinations and is the reason why tourists and residents in search of some relaxation keep coming back for more.

Despite of the remote location it takes only 20 minutes to get to Miami International Airport, 15 minutes to Miami and 25 minutes to Miami Beach.

Key Biscayne Entertainments

This hidden gem has numerous tennis and golf courts and is host to the Miami Open each year. Not short of famous landmarks, the island is also home to the 500-acre Crandon Park and Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Recreation Area, as well as a historic lighthouse.

Key Biscayne Yacht Club will take boat lovers’ fancy. But not only them. In recent years it is also a hot spot for weddings and events. And sea adventurers will enjoy one of Florida’s underwater parks, Half Moon Archaeological Preserve, which is free and open to the public throughout a year.

Tucked away amongst the green flora are a variety restaurants and eateries to suit any taste, low key lounges and magnificent boutique shops. With so much natural beauty accompanied by quaint restaurants, the island is as much a feast for the eyes as it is for the belly! This remote and quiet area is also a popular retreat for many celebrities, so you may find yourself soaking up the sun with a local superstar. If you are looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life, then Key Biscayne is certainly your kind of place and will serve as your own private getaway and oasis.

Key Biscayne Infrastructure

Key Biscayne has all essential venues for a comfort life of its residents: police, fire and rescue department, various medical facilities, educational institutions (schools and colleges), grocery stores, pharmacies, postal service centers, banks and other. The locals use golf carts to move around the city that argues for incredibly pure air.
